I need more inspiration to make a mesmer. see if oyu can help me.
Hey Every one. I am new to the mesmer class and am thinking of making a SS for warcamp neways...But I have been PvEing for to long and am thinking of making a mesmer. I Plan to traditionaly complete the game with him to get a feel of the mesmer and unlock skills. I plan on making an Edenial (and maybe a shutdown w/ wastrels wory etc...). once I compltete the game with him I will wntinue onto things like RA, TA, HoH and GvG. But right now I am thinking of making a SS necro for warcamp. I would like to ask the mesmer comunity to send me a short Wmv video of oyu shutting down an opponent. and you depleting the energy of your foe and using punishment spells like wastrells worry and mindwrack to punish him for having no energy. If possible can you please host your movie on "Putfile (click here)". I dont have enough inspiriation to make a mesmer and I think if I see a mesmer doing what hes supposed to do I might get it. well...I gueses if I make a mesmer I cant the inpiration magic line .

For PvE use emphety, backfire, energy burn, ether feast, energy tap, conjure pantasm and an interupt. This will get you going. However, I do advice you to change the build to your own taste. Although the build I wrote works well in a lot of area's, there are many places where you wanna use totally different builds.
Energydenial in pve doesnt work, it's a pvp build.
edit: energy surge had to be energy burn, my mistake (surge is an elite)

My usual Mesmer build, which admitedly I' haven't touched in a while....
1) Diversion
2) Wrastles Worry
3) Empathy
4) Backfire (yes I know, it does suck)
5) Guilt/Shame
6) Sig of Midnight [e]
7) Distortion
8) Rez
Unfortunately, it doesn't have energy management to speak of, so I have to depend on a short match!

If you're looking for inspiration, watch GvG or search the forums for builds and ideas. They're one of the most powerful classes for PvP (and PvE). GvG is probably the best example, however.

However, in PvE, I always have trouble getting into non-intelligent groups. That's okay, though.

No conjure phantasm please! No burn either! Distortion and clumsiness are nicer!
But edrain in PvE can work, I did the ring of fire missions with it just because I didn't want to change skills. Mursaat, for example, have 100~ energy... and when you finally burn through that, Willa dies really fast
Still, empathy = gold. Good interrupt is Cry of Frustration... backfire and distortion are excellent as well.

I like Conjure in PvE. Esp early on when it's an extremely powerful degen. It's like using water magic on the poor things around Ascalon.

Backfire sucks???
PvP it will almost definatly stop monks casting for fear of massacring themselves.
PvE it just depends, if you cast this on a Skeleton Ether Breaker at the start of a fight, *Energy Surge* *Shatter Enchantments* *Sympathetic Visage*
"Oops i just did 441 damage to myself in 3 seconds, man am i stupid."
Power Block is another skill i take FoW too, no other single skill keeps monks silent as well as that does. I also used it along with Arcane Echo for Defend North Kryta, elemental born titans are pretty much asking to be shut down
Clumsiness and Ineptitude are awesome skills for PvE too. Its always funny when half the team in THK whines about how im running off to kill that jade armour/bow alone then suddenly half its health vanishes and its got -8 degen w/ incoming wound and hasnt managed to touch me yet.
Damnit, after saying all that i wanna go FoW as my mesmer now! Gonna take ages to get a team

My build:
Ineptitude {E}. Distortion, Arcane conundrum (fow/uw)/ Diversion (anywhere with antagonizing monk bosses), backfire, shatter hex, empathy, cry of frustration, rebirth.
You don't need energy management, most of your skills are hexes. I've never needed energy much. I love this build so much. It can blind attackers. It has EMPATHY. It can tear up casters with backfire, and evade attacks with distortion. It can, with some luck, solo an Aatxe. It is a thing of steel and purple mesmery stars.
Ok, back to reality... so obviously not the best possible build, but it's one I've found to serve well in almost all situations.

Shatter hex is always in my build. Esp. when you use your warriors in your team as a Shatter Bomb

Shatter Hex is FTW. Love it in PvE, its a great AoE for its cost and group-support effect.
